Merkel confident euro summit will find solution
Germany's Angela Merkel believes tomorrow's summit of euro zone leaders will agree on a new Greek bailout, while her talks with France's Nicolas Sarkozy later today will help Europe find such a solution, an aide said.
"The chancellor will travel to Brussels tomorrow. We are very confident that there will be a good and sensible solution," said her spokesman, Steffen Seibert.
He added that France and Germany had to work together for the euro zone to find a solution, but the final deal would not be decided alone by Merkel and Sarkozy, who hold a pre-summit meeting in Berlin tomorrow at about 5 p.m. (1500 GMT).
Seibert added that private sector creditors' participation in a rescue package remained a key priority for Germany.
