Flights and major highways affected by dense fog
Local media reported this morning the Metropolitan airport Jorge Newberry – know as Aeroparque – had to limit its activities due to a dense fog that has been hovering over the city. According to airport sources “operations were suspended for meteorological reasons.” Several flights were cancelled or postponed in another blow to travelers who, for the past weeks, have been enduring closings, cancelations and other hassles caused by the volcanic ash cloud spewed by the Puyehue volcano in Chile.
Local media informed that some Aeroparque flights were moved to Ezeiza international airport.
Rain, mist and haze have also affected the city transit causing delays and inconveniences for drivers trying to reach the city’s accesses. Local major highways have also been affected by the dense haze causing very low visibility. Transit authorities have issued recommendations to travelers advising them not to commute under those conditions. If absolutely necessary, authorities observed, drivers should reduce speed due to slippery roads, revise al auto equipment for the unusual situation and drive carefully.
The meteorological conditions are expected to remain until evening. For the weekend, the polar temperatures are expected to return reaching 5 Celsius on Sunday. Local media informed that some Aeroparque flights were moved to Ezeiza international airport.
