Paraguay must play perfect match to beat Brazil
Paraguay captain Paulo da Silva believes they must play a "perfect match" to beat Brazil when the teams try to score the first goals in Copa América Group B at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium on Saturday.
In a tournament of few goals so far, Group B has had two 0-0 draws after holders Brazil were held by Venezuela in La Plata and Paraguay could not break down Ecuador in Santa Fe.
Coach Mano Menezes is wary of the threat Paraguay pose to his aspirations of retaining the title Brazil have won in four of the previous five tournament between 1997 and 2007.
"I said that the favourites would emerge during the course of the competition. You can point before the start of the tournament to Argentina because of the home factor, history, the quality of their players," Menezes said.
"But only the competition will show clearly who are the favourites up to the final. With the first rounds (of group matches), we don't have an open Copa America," he told reporters.
"What I said about there being more parity is being confirmed, looking at the level of the (2010) World Cup and the work each (team) has done since."
Menezes, who has seen Argentina's difficulties in two draws in their first two games which have left them third in Group A, said he needed to keep all his focus on his own team.
"We have to play a better match facing better adversaries. I like shared responsibilities and I see in Paraguay a team who can share that responsibility with Brazil," he said of the two sides' commitment to victory.
Menezes seems unlikely to make changes to the team that faced Venezuela despite hints in training that he might drop Robinho and midfielder Ramires, bringing in teenage forward Lucas and World Cup veteran Elano.
"It's a nice match to play," said Paraguay's Da Silva. "We'll have fans' support and all we need is to play a good match and try to take the three points," Da Silva told reporters.
"We've earned respect with the good World Cup we had (in South Africa) and we hope to ratify that in this Copa," striker Lucas Barrios said.
Ecuador, almost certain to be without injured winger Antonio Valencia, meet Venezuela in the northwestern city of Salta (2130 GMT).
