US Ambassador praises Gov't decree against human traffic

US Ambassador in Argentina, Vilma Martínez.

US Ambassador in Buenos Aires Vilma Martínez praised the decree signed by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner on Wednesday which banned the publication of advertisements offering sexual services and highlighted her “commitment in the fight against human traffic.”

“I would like to show my appreciation for her commitment in the fight against the white-slave traffic. The presidential decree that bans the publication of sexual services in the newspaper’s classified section shows a distinctive measure to face this issue and that many countries will appreciate the effects of the decree in the fight against this crime,” Martínez stated in a letter sent to the Head of State.

She highlighted the “great advance of Argentina in the fight against the human traffic” in the last years and added that in the country and in the United States “there’s a lot still to be done in order to end with these national and international organizations, to condemn those involved and provide total attention to the victims.”
