‘There’s energy available, but everyone has to pay for it,’ CFK tells business leaders
During the inauguration ceremony of a new gas pipeline that will transport natural gas from Argentina to Bolivia, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner sent a message to business leaders who allegedly complained about a lack of available energy in the industry sector.
The President explained that last weekend, new record levels of natural gas consumption were reached, and assured that the Government “had been more lenient towards excess consumption than in previous years.”
“Some have tried to make the extreme cold weather a matter of politics,” she said, ironic.
Regarding the gas pipeline, the President explained that “public works, as well as electricity, would usually reach the Argentine port, leaving the provinces disconnected.”
Joined by Bolivian President Evo Morales, the President said that “this was the second gas pipeline to be inaugurated during her administration.”
“We’re helping over 3.5 million Argentines living in the northwest,” she assured.
“Back in 2003, Argentina would only invest 1.8 billion pesos a year in infrastructure. Nowadays, we’re spending almost 70 billion. When it comes to investments, we have grown for over 28 times.”
“We’ve invested a total of 197 billion pesos in infrastructure, 70 of them going to the energy sector,” she highlighted.
As the industry sector keeps rising, the President stressed on the importance to keep the GDP growing, adding that “integration with Bolivia is now a fact.”
