Santa Cruz teachers request re-opening of wage talks with Peralta

Teachers in Santa Cruz put forward a plea to Daniel Peralta’s provincial government to resume talks over reaching a wage deal amidst the heavy conflicts over salaries in the teaching sector. The decision was made following yesterday’s suspension of the 2-month long strike they had been holding.

It was reported that the lifting of the teacher’s strike was mainly conducted so that classes could re-begin and so that students could be encouraged to go back to school, after their schooling had been brought to a halt over the period of two months

The Teacher’s Association of Santa Cruz (ADOSAC) put forward their request to Peralta’s government this morning.

Although they suspended the strike, teachers maintain their wage demands of more than a 50 percent increase after rejecting the 25 percent that was offered to them by the Government.
