'We can beat CFK, just like we did in our province,' a confident Das Neves says
Chubut Governor and Unión Popular vice-presidential candidate Mario Das Neves said he was “absolutely certain” President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner can be beaten in the coming presidential elections, just as he did in his province.
“She can be beaten. I beat her,” he stressed as he referred to the controverial gubernatorial elections in Chubut in which his candidate managed to score slightly more votes than his opponent amidst accusations of fraud.
Educardo Duhalde’s running mate warned that “Argentina lacks a real administration,” a situation he regrets because “we’re not taking advantage of the zeitgeist, we’re not taking advantage of a good international scenario.”
“However, we’re living on a day-to-day basis, thinking of tomorrow’s headlines,” he accused.
Das Neves admitted that “he may have differences with his running mate,” but he also said he considered Duhalde to be “a great leader.”
He also said that the President announced her decision to seek re-election “in order to overshadow” any negative news affecting her image.
“She governs for the headlines,” he closed.
