CFK's rumoured running mate meets with Randazzo
Chaco province Governor Jorge Capitanich met with Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo at the Government House for two and a half hours, admidst rumours he will be President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s running mate in the October elections. His meeting with the President was called off after she injured her head following a rally held at the Leloir institute.
Capitanich was expected to meet Fernández de Kirchner, but the meeting was called of after the President injured her head after leading a rally at the Leloir institute and injuring her head. She was taken to the Otamendi clinic in downtown Buenos Aires.
Thus, Capitanich met with Randazzo instead and allegedly had talks regarding the congressional lists that the Victory Front will present for the October election.
After leaving the Government House, the rumoured Victory Front vice-presidential candidate simply stated that he only talked about electoral. When he was questioned about his chances of running as Fernández de Kirchner’s vice-presidential candidate he said “that is a matter I don’t give my view that, because it is the President’s decision to take.”
Legal and Technical Secretary Carlos Zanini held talks with Tucumán Governor José Alperovich, who also aims to secure a spot in the list.
But President Fernández de Kirchner has the final word on the subject.
Fernandez said on Tuesday she would run for a second four-year term on October 23, ending speculation about her candidacy and shifting attention to who she will choose as her potential vice president.
Capitanich is said to dream of being one of the principal exponents of kirchnerism who has a chance of running alongside Fernández de Kirchner when she runs for reelection.
Other possible vice presidents for the head of State could be governor Sergio Urribarri (Entre Ríos), governor Juan Manuel Urtubey (Salta), and radical governor Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero).
