Gutiérrez Children’s Hospital staff stage 24-hour strike

Doctors, medical staff, and nurses from the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children’s Hospital were staging a strike today, due to staff shortages within the medical facility, and to re-open the collective bargaining over wages with the City government.

Susana Toporosi, president of the Gutiérrez Hospital Association of Professionals (APHG), sustained that “within the specialties of Surgery and Orthopaedics it is necessary to call in supplement staff from local competitors to cover the emergency room. The reason for this is due to very few professionals being interested in these posts, due to public hospital wages being so much lower than those in private hospitals.”
