CFK continues claims over Malvinas sovereignty
While inaugurating the renovated Government House heliport “Roberto Mario Fiorito,” President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said “Argentina is a defender of peace and of the rights we hold over the Malvinas Islands.”
“Those who die fighting for what they believe in, deserve honour and respect,” she added, as she criticized the British government. "Pretending to maintain geographical ruling over a territory that's over 14,000 kilometres away is ridiculous," she said.
The heliport is named after an Argentine soldier that died during the Malvinas War with Great Britain in 1982.
During the ceremony, the president presented Malvinas-born James Peck, who was born in Puerto Argentino in 1968, with an Argentine DNI identification card.
During her meeting with UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon yesterday, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner asked him to middle in Argentina’s sovereignty claim over the South Atlantic islands.
