Congress debates limitations for foreign buyers
Congress debates limitations of foreign investors.
Lawmakers meet today to discuss a project to limit the amount of land foreigners investors can purchase in the country. The session takes place in the House of Representatives, with Agriculture Minister, Julian Dominguez in attendance.
According to reports, the project “National sovereign protection over rural land, restriction regimes and limitations over foreign buyers,” was a presidential initiative.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was reported to want to limit the amount of land foreign investors are permitted to buy in Argentina, to one thousand acres.
During a public announcement last April, the mandate explained her take on the subject and sent the project for Congress appreciation.
