IMF candidate Carstens arrives to Argentina for talks with Boudou
Mexican central bank chief, Agustín Carstens.
Mexico's central bank chief, Agustin Carstens, arrives to Buenos Aires today for talks with Economic Minister Amado Boudou, aiming to win crucial support in Argentina for his bid to the lead the International Monetary Fund.
Yesterday he met with the head of the Brazilian central bank Alexandre Tombini in Sao Paolo, afterward discussing how he will support Brazil if he were to be chosen as the new IMF chief.
On Wednesday the Mexican candidate met with the Brazilian Economy Minister Guido Mantega, who mentioned that the aspiring Mexican chief's beliefs "broke the IMF's tradional rules."
