Garré praises joint police operation for 'successful' eviction in Bajo Flores
Security Minister Nilda Garré praised the “successful eviction operation” carried out by the Federal and Metropolitan police forces in the social housing complex in the Bajo Flores area.
“The procedure was carried in accordance to each of the forces’ jurisdictions. Initially, those activities are the competence of the City Social Development agency. If the government fails to solve the problem, then they are transferred to the Metropolitan Police so they can deal with it,” she explained.
Garré pointed out that the Federal Police “just maintained a perimeter fence in the area in order to provide the Met Police with additional help if needed,” she said.
She then explained that the force applied during the eviction process was, just like President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner ordered, similar to the one carried out during the takeover of the Albariño Club, in Villa Lugano, last December.
“The Supreme Court’s intervention was very important,” Garré assured.
She also praised the Federal Police’s attitude during the eviction process and the security put in place that allowed the Met Police’s to carry on with their operation and the firemen to put out the fires that were started in several of the apartments in the complex as protest.
