Gov't visit to Russia promises to strengthen strategic ties
The Government visit to Russia, headed by Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, Planning Minister Julio De Vido, and Agriculture Minister Julián Domínguez, came to a close today with the promise of strengthening the strategic ties between both countries. Timerman mentioned, “it’s been a very important trip, to put in place strategic ties that were designed by President Cristina Kirchner and President Medvedev.”
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner visited Russia in December 2008, while Russian President Dimitri Medvedev made a visit to Argentina in 2010, where they established a base for which Argentina and Russia could become strategic partners in Latin America, and to extend the relationship worldwide.
According to the Foreign Minister, during the most recent trip Russia agreed to lower tariffs on Argentine agricultural products, in particular poultry and citric fruits.
