Obama to offer thanks to CIA on bin Laden operation

US President Barack Obama plans to visit CIA headquarters on Friday to thank intelligence officers for helping to hunt down and kill al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, the White House said.

Obama will go to the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia "to meet with a broad range of the intelligence community to thank them for their work to keep America safe and for the excellent work in tracking down Osama bin Laden," the White House said.

Obama earlier this month paid tribute to the members of the strike team in a visit to Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
