CFK signs prepaid medicine regulation bill into law
During an official ceremony in the Government House, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner assured that the signing of a cooperation treaty between the Health and Social Development ministries “is a true state policy, because with it, the prepaid medicine regulation bill has now been signed into law.”
“This bill affects over 4.5 million people, and kick starts a programme that helps trace medication destined to those affected by serious illnesses such as hemophilia, HIV and cancer, which have always been the most vulnerable to be falsified and tampered with due to their expensive value,” she explained.
She also aimed at pharmaceutical companies, wondering how it was possible that a medicine vial could cost up to 50,000 pesos. “Eventually we’ll have to have a chat in order to know why they are so expensive,” she added.
Social Development Minister Alicia Kirchner and Health Minister Juan Manzur also attended the ceremony, along with other high-ranking authorities.
The President began her morning routine in the Presidential Residence, where she first met with Public Communications Secretary, Juan Manuel Abal Medina, and later with the head of the Federal Agency for Audiovisual Communication Service.
