Foreign tourism climbs 16.5% in March
The amount of tourists that arrived in Argentina during March increased 16.5 percent compared to the same month of 2010, according to a government report.
The National Statistics Bureau said that during the third month of the year 237.501 foreigners entered to the country from its Ezeiza international airport, the main route of access to Argentina.
Most of the tourists were from Brazil (71,027 travellers) and Chile (17,968), while 61,086 came from Europe and 30,376 from USA and Canada.
In March, 193.656 Argentine citizens travelled abroad, a 15.8 percent higher than the figures reported on March 2010.
The Indec stated the total expense of tourist was of 310.6 million dollars, 2.8 percent lower than March last year, while the media expense per day reached 104.8 dollars.
