Senate passes regulation of maid services
The Senate unanimously passed a law that will regulate the employment of maid services by expanding several rights, although it postponed an article-by-article review of the law until June 1st.
The new law states that home cleaning personnel must enjoy benefits such as paid vacations, an 8-hour work day, and a weekly off-work period of 35 hours straight.
It also forbids employees between 16 and 18 years old to work more than 6 hours a day, among other things.
The Upper House also passed two additional bills, one that laments the passing of famed writer Ernesto Sábato and another to express support for the recent beatification of late Pope John Pope II.
Senators also passed an initiative in order to compensate the Altos Hornos Zapla former employees, and an official extension of subsidies to the ovine cattle for an additional ten years.
