CFK meets UIA leadership
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner met with the leaders of the Argentina Industrial Union (UIA) to continue with the “social dialogue.” The head of the union, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, said that the Head of State “insisted on how to solve the litigations.”
“We’ve discussed the social conflicts. The president had already talked to the CGT. She called for rationality, firstly in the claims and then in the litigations,” the head of the UIA told the press after the encounter held at the Government House.
De Mendiguren unveiled that “the next meeting will be with the ministers next week, and the Industry Minister, Débora Giorgi, will attend to the UIA’s meeting on Tuesday.”
The business leaders met for two hours with the President to discuss demands being made by the General Labour Confederation (CGT).
Regarding the partial distribution of private earnings for workers, he said that the business leaders had presented their opinion of “taking the debate of this issue to the social dialogue” before establishing it as a draft bill.
Fernández de Kirchner defended the fact that workers take part of the companies’ incomes, but accepted that not every sector is the same and that they have to try to find the right mechanism by the dialogue.
De Mendiguren also said that the president agreed with the limited outsourced mechanisms, this means that the companies can have outsourced activities as long as they do not interfere with the essence of the industry.
“The most important thing of this meeting is that we’ve settled long-term aims. We’ve explained to the president and the ministers that we believe that Argentina can double its GDP within the next 12 years,” the head of the UIA assured.
De Mendiguren headed the group alongside vice-presidents, Federico Nicholson, Luis Betnaza, Juan Carlos Sacco, Adrián Kaufmann Brea, Cristiano Ratazzi, Guillermo Moretti, Daniel Funes de Rioja, Juan Carlos Lascurain and Alberto Alvarez Saavedra, among others.
Planning Minister Julio De Vido, Economy Minister Amado Boudou, Labour Minister Carlos Tomada, Interior Minister Florencia Randazzo and Giorgi were present alongside the President during the meeting.
