Botnia: activists march, assure 'conflict still not solved'

After seven years of the first “embrace to Uruguay River,” a group of Gualeguaychú activists marched toward the international bridge General San Martín once more and warned that the conflict of the UPM (ex Botnia) pulp-mill “has not been solved yet.”

Hundreds of citizens stated in a communiqué that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and her Uruguayan counterpart José “Pepe” Mujica “deliver speeches but lie when they assure the conflict has been solved.”

“If our children breathe the pollution produced by the company, if the Uruguay River keeps been damaged, if Botnia-UPM continues working in the region, then the conflict isn’t solved and the damage caused to the people continues,” stated the group of activists that question the decision of lifting the blockade of the brigde.
