Obama releases original birth certificate after skeptical comments

The White House today released US President Barack Obama's original birth certificate.

The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.

Obama is expected to speak about the controversy, the White House said.
