Vélez crush Liga in Liniers
The leader of the local Clausura Tournament, Vélez Sársfield, thrashed Ecuador’s Liga Deportiva Universitaria 3-0 in the first leg of the pre-quarter finals of the Libertadores Cup. This result helps Gareca’s team to be calmed for the second leg to be played in Quito next week.
Vélez’s Augusto Fernández was in charge of scoring the first two goals at 7’ and 10’ of the first half, while his teammate Sebastián Domínguez headed the third goal only 9’ after the beginning of the second half of the game.
In the game held at the José Amalfitani stadium in Liniers neighbourhood, the Paraguayan Carlos Amarilla was in charge of refereeing the match along with his fellow countrymen Milcíades Saldívar and César Franco.
