Santa Cruz oil workers lift strike

After 26 days, Santa Cruz oil workers decided to lift the strike that kept the production of oil stalled. The measure, which stated April 1st in demand of better working conditions and increase in salaries, ended Tuesday night. But the activities will return to a normal pace on Wednesday morning, a Santa Cruz Private Oil Worker's union delegate announced.

“In the delegate meeting we agreed to this, although we had been discussing it for some days to solve the conflict and we will lift the strike a 8 pm,” said Santa Cruz Private Oil workers’ union delegate Iván Haffen.

On Monday night, union representatives, government officials and company’s authorities reached an agreement, but the final decision was taken in a delegate meeting. The oil workers demanded better working conditions and an increase in wages and halted the production of Repsol-YPF, and Pan American Energy.
