'Opening up a factory is different from opening up a shipping container,' CFK says

During the opening ceremony of a new assembly plant for computer company Bangho in Vicente López, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner assured that “even though some predicted that there would never be national production in the country, this factory proves otherwise.” She also assured her administration remains committed to job creation.

“Opening up a factory is different from opening up a shipping container,” she said as she praised the current levels of national production.

She said Bangho is a “leader in netbook production” and stated that the company made a “qualitative jump” back in 2006, when it stopped importing products and became assembling computers in Argentina.

“In 2006, netbook domestic sales were up to 141,650 units. Only 6000 units were being assembled in the country. In 2010, netbook sales went up to 1,613,513 units, with 289,000 of them assembled in Argentina,” she said.

President Fernández de Kirchner then thanked the company for "believing" in the country, rural school teachers, and the heads of digital TV companies, adding that the government “continues to transform Argentina, a country that rose from the ashes” thanks to a new political Project based on accumulation.

The President also demanded that the children-oriented Paka-Paka network, which was created by the Ministry of Education, “be seen everywhere,” since it is currently not included in the programming content of several cable operators.

“I will join the cause demanding that Paka-Paka, the only non-commercial network for children, be available everywhere,” she said amidst demands by several sectors in the population that Clarín Group’s cable operator Cablevision adds the network to its programming content.
