Holy Week tourism increases 6%

Tourists in Mar del Plata city, Buenos Aires province.

Tourism during Holy Week grew 6 percent compared to the Easter of 2010 and the total expense of the tourists reached 2.261 billion pesos, according to the Argentine CAME medium-sized business organization.

The third long weekend of the year registered a new tourism record, reaching to 2.6 million people travelling to the country’s main tourist destinations and to 80 percent of the occupancy.

The national and foreign tourism expense reached then to 2.261 billion pesos in the country between Thursday 21 and Sunday 24 of April.

The expense media includes every item, from transportation and food to tours and other activities. The main destinations were Villa Carlos Paz and Mina Clavero in Córdoba province; Tandil, Azul and Mar del Plata in Buenos Aires province; Merlo in San Luis province; Colón and Villa Elisa in Entre Ríos; Rosario in Santa Fe and Iguazú in Misiones.
