Copa del Rey tournament attracts record audience

More tan 14 million Spanish football fans watched Real Madrid’s glory over Barcelona with their 1-0 victory, in the final match of the Copa del Rey tournament last Wednesday, making the match’s transmission the most-viewed between both teams in history.
Televisión Española counted 12,710,000 TV spectators, whilst Catalan TV3 counted 1,460,000 viewers, bringing the grand total to 14,710,000 viewers, taking up 73% of screen quota, according to Barlovento Communications Company.
The most-watched moment of the match was when Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo marked his great triumph in the first part – scoring 77.8% of screen quota with 14,910,000 spectators.
