CFK announces social benefits in first public appearance since health scare
In her first public appearance since her low blood pressure scare last week, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced further pharmacy discounts for Pami state-run healthcare affiliates and the implementation of the Universal Child Allowance for pregnant women.
“We are witnessing an expansion of benefits that is unusual in the history of this country,” President Fernández de Kirchner said after announcing the implementation of the Universal Child Allowance for pregnant women, set to begin in the 12th week of the pregnancy.
Fernández de Kirchner also said that a new vaccine against pneumoccocus bacteria will be added to de mandatory vaccine calendar for children, taking the total amount of vaccines to 15.
However, Fernández de Kirchner said that “there’s still a lot to do in order to bring over two million people from below the poverty line.”
Buenos Aires province governor Daniel Scoli, Mendoza governor Celso Jaque, Economy Minister Amado Boudou and Labour Minister Carlos Tomada were present during the announcement, which took place in the Casa Rosada government house.
