Drug-trafficking gang detained holding 93 kilos of cocaine in Moreno

Eight people accused of forming part of a drug-trafficking gang were arrested during eleven separate drug raids in Buenos Aires city and province areas. Police officials detained 93 kilos of cocaine in the process.

The procedures were carried out through the drug raid operation named, "Arcángel", which last year confiscated another 136 kilos of cocaine and arrested 31 people in connection with trafficking, some of whom were foreign nationals, originally from Peru and Bolivia.

The new officials managing the staff of the Illegal Drug Trafficking Investigation Delegation in Quilmes, had been carrying out a set of intelligence tasks which revealed the internal structure of a wider international programme against drug trafficking.

According to investigators, the gang were bringing cocaine from Bolivia through contacts who were placed on the bored in Salta and Jujuy. From there the drugs were transported to Buenos Aires, being distributed within the province, or sent abroad.
