IMF mission presents local Gov't with suggestions on new CPI
The International Monetary Fund delegation presented the Argentine authorities with a report that includes specific recommendations regarding the design and methodology needed to develop a new consumer price index on a national level, IMF authorities announced in Washington DC through a communiqué.
The IMF’s Technical Assistance Mission (TAM), which was headed by advisor Carlos Medeiros, announced that the technical team “finished the second TAM in Buenos Aires in order to advise Argentina in the design and methodology of a new national consumer price index (CPI).
The message also thanks the INDEC authorities for their hospitality and a “productive exchange of ideas regarding the implementation of a nationwide CPI.” The IMF officials also thank the authorities from the Córdoba, Jujuy, Mendoza and Santa Fe provinces for their “constructive exchange of data and methodology to gather provincial price index compilations.”
The communiqué concludes that the IMF’s team presented the Argentine authorities with a report including specific recommendations regarding the design and methodology needed to develop a new CPI.
