City Hospital strike still prominent
A general 24-hour strike across 33 hospitals and health centre’s across the city of Buenos Aires was held as doctors and medical staff pleaded for better security measures, following the dispute between the city and national governments over police patrols.
The protest began at 12AM and largely affected patients who had booked appointments for the day. Not all services were stopped however, as the emergencies and outpatients continued to run.
The doctors justified the protest claiming that there was lack of “physical security” after the government decided to remove the Federal Police from buildings belonging to the City Government.
