Liga de Quito complicate Independiente at Libertadores Cup

Ecuador’s Deportiva Universitaria de Quito managed to tie the score against Independiente during the second half of the match for the Group 8 of the Libertadores de América Cup, leaving the Argentine team far from the pre-quarter finals of the tournament.

Independiente's Leonel Nuñez opened the score after a penalty kick at 23' of the first half of the game. But, at 12' of the second half, Liga's Hernán Barcos managed to tie the score.

Independiente was obliged to win in order to keep fighting for a place at the pre-quarter finals. As it draw, it will now depend on the other teams of the group to define its situation.

The match was held Libertadores de América stadium in Avellaneda district, Buenos Aires City.

Uruguay’s Peñarol de Montevideo heads the group with 9 points, followed by Argentina’s Godoy Cruz de Mendoza with 7, Liga de Quito with 6 and Independiente with 4.
