Peñarol complicate Godoy Cruz in the Libertadores Cup
Uruguay’s Peñarol defeated Mendoza's Godoy Cruz 2-1 during the match for the Group 8 of the Libertadores de América Cup. The result leaves the Argentine team in a tough position to reach the second round of the tournament.
Peñarol's Juan Manuel Olivera opened the score at 42' of the first half of the game, but his teammate Darío Rodríguez netted an own goal at 12' of the second half, leaving a tie in the score.
At 25' of the second half, Nicolás Freitas netted Peñarol's second goal.
The match was held at the Centenario de Montevideo stadium.
Godoy Cruz , which plays the Libertadores Cup for the first time, headed the group with 7 points, followed by his opponent Peñarol and Liga only one point behind, while is in the fourth place with four points.
