Buzzi ahead of FPV candidate, though winner can't still be formally claimed in Chubut
Chubut’s Electoral Court reported that candidate Martin Buzzi (PJ) was 401 votes ahead of Carlos Eliceche (Victory Front). However, because of the annulled polling stations, a winner of the controversial gubernatorial elections can’t be formally claimed.
PJ party had a total of 98,751 votes and Victory Front 98, 350 votes, without accounting for the votes of the annulled polling stations.
Earlier, the Electoral Court backed the Kircherite party's request and annulled polling stations number 542, and 1204. They had previously annulled polling stations number 174, 1038 and 1127.
Court officials announced that at least 1617 people will have to vote again due to the annullment of 5 polling stations.
The final vote count favoured PJ candidate Martin Buzzi, who is backed by current governor Mario Das Neves.
Gubernatorial elections in Chubut took place Sunday March 20th and PJ candidate Buzzi won with less than a 1 percent difference over Kirchnerite candidate Carlos Eliceche.
Several claims of irregularities and fraud led to the recount of votes, which ended on Wednesday.
