CFK joins Salta's Urtubey in ceremony close to elections date
Two weeks before the gubernatorial elections in the Salta province take place, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner joined incumbent governor Juan Manuel Urtubey in the reopening of a ceramics factory, where she showed her support for him and mentioned some of her administration’s achievements.
During the ceremony at the Alberdi Ceramics Factory, the President also talked to the citizens of Tartagal via video conference and discussed their reconstruction work of the entire town after it was swept away by a landslide in 2009.
Governor Urtubey is considered to be a Kirchnerite who sometimes remains critical of the administration, and who has told the press that he is not a K candidate.
He will be running for governor against another candidate who sees himself aligned with the government, Walter Wayar, although he has lesser chances of success.
“Reopening this factory was unthinkable back in 2003, when Kirchner was president since it wasn’t profitable to create this in Argentina,” she said.
Regarding the town of Tartagal, she also said that “not only they were the victim’s of mother nature, but also of the tragedy of neoliberal politics in Argentina that left some serious consequences.”
She closed by mentioning her administration’s economic achievements, recalling that the Salta province used to make 747 million pesos in revenue sharing, but is now making over 4.2 billion.
