Gov't hopes to apply new index this year

Economy Minister Amado Boudou assured the government hopes to apply the new Consumer Prices Index this year after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) missions in the country.

The minister also affirmed that the country does not have the intention of returning to the international debt markets and added he is willing to end with the negotiations with the Paris Club by the end of the year.

“We expect to count with a national index. I believe this year we can have the design and possibility of applying it,” Boudou stated in a press conference during the 52nd Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meeting in Calgary (Canada).

Boudou said the forecasts of some international organizations over the country’s inflation are “outrageous,” which had reached 10.9 percent last year according to the government.

The International Financial Institute (IIF) had reported that Argentina’s inflation had hit 30 percent.
