US survive Messi's masterclass to draw with Argentina

Argentina’s national football team draw 1-1 with the United States in New Jersey with the presence of striker Lionel Messi for a friendly match. It was one of the last games before the América Cup to be held in Argentina.

Argentina's Esteban Cambiasso opened the score at 41' of the first half, but US' Agudelo managed to tie the result at 13' of the second half.

Team’s coach Sergio Batista assured the match is a “very important” test and, although he changed the goalkeeper, the team was the same one that had defeated Portugal 2-1 last February.

The game was held at the New Meadowsland stadium.

Argentina: Mariano Andújar; Javier Zanetti, Nicolás Burdisso, Gabriel Milito and Marcos Rojo; Ever Banega, Javier Mascherano and Esteban Cambiasso; Angel Di María, Lionel Messi and Ezequiel Lavezzi. Coach: Sergio Batista.

United States: Tim Howard; Steve Cherundolo, Oguchi Onyewu, Carlos Bocanegra and Jonathan Spector; Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan and Benny Feilhaber; Jozy Altidore and Edson Buddle. Coach: Bob Bradley.

Referee: Roberto García Orozco (Mexico).

Stadium: New Meadowsland, New Jersey.
