Kirchnerite candidate claims victory in Catamarca gubernatorial elections
With almost 570 polling stations counted out of 706, the Victory Front candidate has gathered 69,451 votes (48 percent of the electorate) while Brizuela achieves 64,419 votes (45,1 percent of the electorate). Both candidates seemed to be even when the recount started, but Corpacci soon pulled ahead on the bend.
“The tendency is irreversible,” Corpacci considered, adding that the President’s social planning policies “were influential in her victory.”
The Victory Front senator said that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner called her on the phone to congratulate her.
These elections are considered to kick off the electoral race, which will conclude in October 23rd, when the presidential elections are scheduled to take place.
This morning, Brizuela del Moral casted his vote at the Catamarca National University building in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca and told reporters to be be positive about reelection.

The governor also admitted to have an "excellent relationship" with Vice President Julio Cleto Cobos, though he clarified “"Julio is a very good friend, I know him from our time at the University, but I’m not aligned with his political faction."
