Del Potro advances at Indian Wells

Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina celebrates a win over Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia during the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Argentine tennis player Juan Martín del Potro achieved the pre-quarter finals of the first Masters 1000 of the season, in Indian Wells Open, after defeating the last champion of the tournament, Croatian Iván Ljubicic by 5-7, 6-4 and 6-2.

Del Potro will now face Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov (90).

The winner of 2009 US Open began the year as the 484 of the ranking, but rapidly recovered after achieving San José and Memphis semi-finals and winning Delray Beach.
