Peñarol recover, crush Godoy Cruz
Uruguay's Peñarol crushed Godoy Cruz de Mendoza 3-1 during a Group 8 match of the Libertadores Cup. Diego Aguirre's team recovered from their 3-0 defeat against Independiente.
Peñarol's Juan Manuel Olivera opened the score during the first minute of the first half, but Rubén Ramírez managed to tie the score with a clean header at 30'. But Olivera had more fuel in the tank and netted again in the minute 41.
On the second half, it was the turn of Luis Aguiar who buried all home team's hopes after scoring the final 3-1 in the minute 22.
The team coached by Jorge “Polilla” Da Silva was willing to clinch three more points in the Cup after defeating Ecuadorean Liga Deportiva de Quito 2-1 in their debut.
