At least 52 died in Bolivia due to the intense rains and the overflowing of rivers in the last 30 days, while the government began a joint operation with the UN in order to bring food to over 7,000 families affected by the natural disaster in the departments of La Paz, Beni and Cochabamba.
Rural Development Vice-Minister Víctor Hugo Vázquez explained that 2,495 hectares of crops had been affected by “La Niña,” which has already brought heavy rains to Bolivia’s nine departments.
Close to 15 homes in La Paz collapsed this morning due to rains, while tens of villages remain under water and roads remain blocked in the east and west of the country.
The overflowing of the Beni river flooded the Rurrenabaque town completely.
