Judge leading US plane case investigation temporarily replaced
The investigation involving the seizing of “sensitive material” found aboard a US Air Force plane that landed in Ezeiza last week is to temporarily fall in the hands of Judge Ezequiel Berón de Astrada.
According to judicial sources, the judge leading the investigation until yesterday, Rafael Caputo, decided to take a leave of absence due to “personal reasons.”
The investigation is now being led by Judge Berón de Astrada, who will be in charge of questioning three witnesses present during the seizing process last week.
Yesterday, four customs officials assured they had found weaponry and medicines that are banned from entering the country.
Berón de Astrada is the judge who opened the investigation after news of the seizing broke out.
The investigation will finally fall in the hands of Judge Marcelo Aguinsky, who is scheduled to return to work after a leave of absence next week.
