Redrado blasts Timerman’s outburst, compares him to Galtieri’s gov’t

Former Central Bank Governor Martín Redrado harshly criticized Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman for his uproar against Buenos Aires city Mayor Mauricio Macri over the training courses attended by officers from the city’s Metropolitan Police force. Redrado compared him to the de facto President Galtieri and recommended him to read Charles Talleyrand.

Redrado stated in a public letter that a Foreign Minister must sinthetize the country’s political and economic aims of the public and private sector to the world, while an “out of control” Timerman is bordering the absurd.

The ex CB Governor also assured that instead of celebrating the fact that the US President Barack Obama visits the region, the minister acted like a “hurt lover,” uttering arguments that lead to the lack of international visits and foreign investments.

He also recommended to read the French diplomat Charles Talleyrand who describes the labour of Foreign Ministers as the ones “who have the faculty of appearing to be an open man while it remains inscrutable.”

Redrado concluded that the amount of outbursts against the United States recalls Galtieri’s de facto government.

The Foreign Minister ignited a controversy when he condemned via his Twitter account the training courses attended by the Metropolitan Police at the International Law Enforcement Academy, which he considered to be “the successor of the School of the Americas” while he described the courses as “torture” lessons financed by the United States.
