CFK says people should strive to find good prices
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced the agreement for the school basket price index, stating that more than fifty stationary items would be lowered in price for school children.
The announcement was made at the Government House this afternoon, as the President criticised ways of communicating prices, in that “school prices often rise extortionately”, and “when cigarettes or alcoholic beverages increase in price nobody mentions it”.
The school basket price index registered an increase in 7 percent compared with last year. It was possible to buy everything that a school child would need for school, using 80 pesos, including a rucksack, in accordance with the Chamber for stationary and book shops.
Education Minister, Alberto Sileoni, and Interior Commerce Secretary were present at the meeting, amongst other officials.
The lowered prices for the school basket index will be applied across the country, making stationary supplies such as exercise books, paper, pencils, pens, and folders more accessible pricewise.
