Employee mugged while carrying CFK's pocket money summoned for questioning
Judge Canicoba Corral decided to summon for questioning an employee in the Fernández de Kirchner administration who fell victim of a robbery last month when he was carrying the President’s pocket money destined for her travel expenses in the Persian Gulf and Turkey.
The employee, Rodolfo Stefanon, is being accused of embezzlement of public funds by district attorney Patricio Evers.
Mr. Evers asked for Mr. Stefanon to be questioned after he said he did not believe his version of the story, in which he said he was “surprised by some robbers on a motorbike” as he was entering his home in Palermo, stealing USD68,000 and €17,000.
Mr. Stefanon had allegedly robbed after withdrawing the money.
The Distric Attorney however, said he did not believe his side of the story and asked for him to be summoned and accused of violating Code 261, which sets a punishment of over ten years in prison for “any public official who takes any money or public property that has been put in their trust.”
