CFK's new gas pipeline will 'enable the payment of a historical debt'

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner held a ceremony today at the Government House to inaugurate the opening of a new gas-pipeline, which will allow gas to be brought from Bolivia and taken to five interior provinces across the country. She also highlighted the importance of the pipeline and said it will “enable the payment of a historial debt”.

The project will allow natural gas to be transported to interior provinces such as Misiones, Corrientes, Formosa and Chaco. The construction of the pipeline will be made in two parts.

The President also underlined that, “the energy planning in recent years has been the most important in the past few decades”. This was in reference to the work her late husband had started during his presidency, mentioning, “in 2003 there were gas reserves for nine years, and now we have reserved for twenty years, extending further than before”.

She also criticised directors who have a “centrist overview of the country”, describing those who do not consider the interior provinces, during the meeting. She also mentioned that she wishes each district to be “treated with equality so that everybody has the facilities they need”.
