Argentina 'no longer the country it used to be eight years ago,' Randazzo
Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo said that “no matter who chooses to run for president, we should be debating what every political party has to offer.”
“It would be good to be able to discuss ideas, projects and what we think about the country,” he said, as he highlighted that his party was responsible for “setting in motion a political project with a very successful economic, cultural and social model.”
“Argentina is no longer the country that it used to be eight years ago,” he stressed.
He later explained that Argentina has gone through a “very important recovery process,” therefore “everyone must look after the country, businessmen on one side and union leaders on the others, defending the working class’ best interests. Then in the middle, there’s the government, acting on behalf of the state, and making sure that all demands coming from both sides are rational.”
Regarding an eventual decision by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to seek reelection, Mr. Randazzo said “it’s the best thing that could happen to Argentina.”
He said however, her decision to run again “was completely personal."
