Rousseff chooses new magistrate for Brazil's Supreme Court
President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff
Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff has delegated Judge Luis Fux to join the Federal Supreme Tribune (STF), the Supreme Court of Brazil. The decision is yet to be finalised by Senate officials.
Fux, aged 57 years old, made up a part of the Supreme Justice Tribune (STJ), the most important criminal court in Brazil. His place will be decided by the Senate, where he will be interviewed by members of the Constitution and Justice Commission.
Designating Fux the new position would complete the formation of the STF, which currently has only ten magistrates forming part of the court following Judge Eros Grau’s retirement last year.
