Gov't refuses to comment on Egyptian crisis 'in order to avoid passing judgement'
Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman said that the government avoids taking a position in the Egyptian crisis, adding they would avoid "passing judgement on the issue."
Timerman said that the government has “always supported the defence of human rights, democracy and more representative regimes,” although he explained that “we can’t be so conceited to believe that we can solve Egypt’s conflict too.”
“The Argentine government, as well as the country, doesn’t pass judgement over other governments while they debate historical issues on their own country,” he continued.
The minister then advised the population to “support every democratic process of every country in the world.”
“We can work better when it’s near home, in Latin America, or the Mercosur. When the situation is in Middle East, we support the processes supporting democracy and freedom,” Timerman explained.
