‘If CFK chose not to run, Scioli would make a great candidate,’ Alberto Fernández
Former Cabinet Chief Alberto Fernández praised Buenos Aires province governor Daniel Scioli and said he is a potential candidate for the presidential elections in October. “He has been a part of the Kirchnerite movement since its early stages, even when others wouldn’t even dare to be,” he said.
“I have no doubts that Cristina could win the elections, because her popularity has gone up again and she course-corrected several policies within her administration,” he stated.
He assured, however, that if Mrs. Fernández de Kirchner chose not to run, “Scioli would also make a good alternative,” referring to the current debate currently taking place within the Victory Front party, in which many are wondering who should become the leader of the party in case she decided against running for reelection.
“When he was asked to help the Buenos Aires province, he worked hard and ended up doing great in the polls. He got 47 percent of the votes,” he expressed.
Mr. Fernández, who said he considers himself to be part of the Victory Front, recalled that even during the most critical times, Mr. Scioli showed some “great serenity,” and that, contrary to other candidates, his popularity remains very high.
