Subway workers assure they will not go on strike

The head of the subway workers’ union, Néstor Segovia, announced that they will not go on strike. The subway train service worked normally during the day after the fears of a possible strike.

Segovia told the press that workers will wait until the union’s meeting to be held in February, where they will discuss salaries and travel allowances, and will later decide how to continue.

The talks came about due to union leaders claiming subway company, Metrovías had pledged to increase their travel expenses in October. The workers are being paid $18 pesos a day for their travel allowance, but union workers want the increase to be put up to $46 pesos a day.
